– The requirements of interaction and performance.

– Playing in different grooves

– Playing in and out of key

– Developing relative pitch

– Call and response

– Advanced player focus on articulation, harmony, artistic direction and recording

– Thinking ahead

– Reading music

This workshop will blend humour with demonstrations, stories and question and answer sessions. Open to all skill levels. Bring refreshments.

About Geoff: 

Music has been a life time passion of Geoff’s. For more than 40 years he’s performed in New Zealand and internationally, a master of the trumpet and one of the most prolific and cutting edge jazz musicians currently on the New Zealand scene. He plays for TV shows, film sessions, and personal club dates. His festival performances are legendary with a variety of talented side-men and combos offering many different directions in sound. His playing has a hallmark of distinction – soulful, passionate and refreshing.

Geoff has worked on commercial sessions, big bands and with artist such as Shirley Bassey, The Sounds of the Supremes, Tony Christie, Renée Gaya, Rodger Whitaker, Gene Pitney, Mark and Nichaud Fitzgibbon’s and Lauren Leslie.
